(ha, i didn't tell you that i believe in socialism, not logically but emotionally.)babe, what's socialism today? i want to be a middle class lady. it's finally someone responded to my investment advice today! and discussion of 2001women lifestyle: i want to be a middle class but not 80s middle class, whose members always associate themselves with LanKwaiFong, Prada (!), Thai Spa resort, Mid-level, Onenightstand, NewYorker, Jazz (another cliche), iGQ and European niche movies (please refer to Isabel Ngai's novels). but i'm a 90s person. this agenda is not for me. being a middle class, like all middle class in every generation, has to be authentic and creative in generating their own values and experimenting sets of practice. i'm searching (but not conforming to)a middle class identity, which is brand new and original in our age. however, financial independence is never out of dated for being a middle class, actually, put it more strongly, financial independence is a necessary condition of being a modern man. Anj쩳AAh]QAright? being emotionally, physically and financially independent is not only loving oneself but loving the ones who love you and you love. don't make others worry about you is the best way to express your care for them. so be healthy, emotionally and physically so as to be independent, be financially independent so as to be an autonomus person. when my tutor told me that to buy your own house in order to build your little world is ideological, i give up. i give up to speak sociologically justified. according to his logic, seeking financial independence is just another manifestation of (worse, dominant) ideology! and finally i listen to S, she said, not in exact wordings, do what you want to do. it's not cliche to me who have undergone a long history of searching justifications of my whole life, i know it's a bit anti intellectual, but towards the end of this last semester in university, i start to think that intellect is not omnipotence.
